INTEGRATED FIELD PRACTICE MASTER OF FISHERIES SCIENCE IN BARRU DISTRICT

Field practice is an integral part of our educational curriculum, designed to provide students with hands-on, in-depth experience in various aspects of fisheries science.

Barru Regency was chosen as the location for our field practice because it can represent the scientific studies in PSS2 IP. This integrated field practice was accompanied by KPS S2 IP Dr. Ir. Badraeni, M.P., and several MK lecturers, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Haryati, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Ir. Musbir, M.Si and Dr. Ir. Edison Saade, M.Sc..

29 students had the opportunity to explore activities at PT. Esaputlii Prakarsa Utama (Benur Kita) which operates in the field of aquaculture and fisheries which produces fry, and PT. Timur Otsuki Mutiara (PT. TOM) as a pearl producer. Apart from that, they also explored the mangrove area around the Unhas educational pond to see important habitat for various species of marine biota that support the sustainability of the aquatic ecosystem and the activities of local fishermen. This is one of the key aspects of field practice, allowing students to learn from the practical experience of key stakeholders in the fisheries sector.
